COURSE INTRODUCTION
Overview
This four-day course covers the principles of extrusion, the design of extrusion processes and the formulation of extruded products. Principles learned will be demonstrated using the CFAM pilot plant facility. The programme is relevant to expanded snacks and breakfast cereals, pasta and third-generation snack pellets, pet foods and aquafeeds. It applies to both single- and twin-screw extrusion technology.
The course presents the theory of how the extrusion process works with a practical focus on typical extrusion processes. This understanding assists with planning and engineering extrusion lines, formulating extruded products and running extrusion plants efficiently.
